A few weeks ago we learned that Chris Brown was taken into police custody and jailed where he was set to remain for the following 30 days. Today we learn that Brown was, just a short time ago, taken into custody by US Marshals so that he could be transferred to a holding facility in San Bernadino, CA where he will remain until he is flown to Washington DC to go on trial for assault charges leveled against him stemming from a bar fight he was involved in last October. As I understand it, Brown‘s flight to DC will take some time as he will be flying on an airplane that transports prisoners (like in the movie Con Air) and his flight will be making stops all over the country picking up other prisoners along the way. Doesn’t that sound fun?
U.S. Marshals have taken singer Chris Brown into custody, News4 has confirmed. He will be brought to D.C. for trial later this week. Brown is in a Los Angeles jail after he was dismissed from a Malibu rehab facility March 17. Brown is in jail there for violating his probation after he was convicted of attacking his then-girlfriend, Rihanna, in February 2009. In D.C., Brown is facing a misdemeanor assault case; he and his bodyguard are accused of punching a 20-year-old Beltsville, Md., man in October. His trial was expected to be in April. The alleged victim said the singer hit him outside the W Hotel on 15th Street NW. The man attempted to get into a photo with Brown, and according to a police report, Brown told the man, “I’m not down with that gay [expletive]” and “I feel like boxing.”
Brown and his attorney will attempt to get the assault charges against him in DC dismissed but if they unsuccessful, he will sit in a DC jail cell until his case goes to trial on April 17. All of this sounds really terrible, doesn’t it? It actually looks like Chris Brown is being punished for the crime that he was convicted of when he assaulted Rihanna back in 2009. Depending on how things turn out in DC, he may also be punished for those assault charges that await him there. Huh. It’s so strange to see the justice system of jurisprudence actually working to punish a celebrity. I don’t even know what to say.
