Yesterday, as you may be well aware from my countless updates on social media, was Rex Manning Day which is a day that fans of the movie Empire Records can celebrate together worldwide. Last night, a few castmembers from Empire Records live-tweeted the movie so that fans around the world could partake in the fun altogether. As a HUGE fan of the movie, I was in heaven all day yesterday. I only ventured out for a quick trip to pick up some food but I spent my entire day partaking in the Empire celebration that took place online. It was fun.
Getting to tweet with the castmembers was really very cool. Johnny Whitworth (who played AJ), Ethan Embry (who played Mark) and Kimo Wills (who played Eddie) were all available last night to chat with fans as we all watched the movie together. Kimo informed me that actor Tobey Maguire was initially cast to appear in Empire Records but, for whatever reason, was cut out of the movie altogether. This was new information to me. I can’t imagine the film to be any different than the way it turned out. It’s perfect the way it is. As much fun as yesterday was, I think I’m all Empire Records out today. I had my fill and then some. But I’ll be excited to partake in the fun again when Rex Manning Day rolls around next year ;D
I did manage to catch last night’s new episode of Marvel‘s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and OMG what a great episode!
Last night’s ep was the first after the release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier last weekend and, as you may know, events in the show are related to events that take place in the Marvel movies (there was an episode last year that was directly tied to Thor: The Dark World). With the emergence of HYDRA in The Winter Soldier, you had to know that that development would impact Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and LORDE did it! Everything is all crazy on the show now … and there are still 6 eps to go until the first season finale! I have been a fan of Agents from the beginning, it’s been a very fun ride all along. I can’t wait to see where the show goes from here.
Today I’m heading back down to Anaheim to meet up and hang out with my friend Sherri who is still visiting from Michigan. She and I are going to spend some time at Disneyland! She’s never been so, yeah, it’s going to be a blast. I hope you are having a great Wednesday. Happy Hump Day!!
