Fox has more casting news to share today for their upcoming Batman prequel series Gotham. Actor Cory Michael Smith has been cast in the role of the young Edward Nygma, the character who will eventually become The Riddler. Smith starred on Broadway alongside Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke in the failed stage adaptation Breakfast at Tiffany’s and the two are rumored to be dating. Click below to get a better look at this young chap and learn a bit more about the villainous character he will play when Gotham debuts on Fox this Fall.
The character of Edward Nygma on Gotham is described as a “brilliant young forensic scientist. Inquisitive and eccentric, and outgoing but socially awkward, he wants to be liked — but doesn’t quite know how.” I suspect he also knows how to crack a joke or two. Oh wait, that’s The Joker. Well, E. Nygma likes riddles then. Based on just his looks, I can see a young Riddler in this Cory Michael Smith guy. I’d have to see him in a green suit covered in question marks paired with a bowler hat and cane to be sure but … I can see it.
