A few days ago, I got to spend some time hanging out with my dear friend Sherri who is visiting LA from Michigan and because we had so much fun during that hang out session, we decided to hang out again yesterday afternoon/evening/night. Sherri and I go way back to our high school days and back then, we were big Disney fans (shocker, I know). Sherri and I saw Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King — all of the big Disney animated films — when they were originally released in theaters so we have a strong Disney background. It occurred to me during dinner a few days ago that we had the opportunity to spend time together at the Disney mecca, just the two of us. We decided to spend the day at Disneyland yesterday and we had the best time ever.
What made our day at Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure even more special was the fact that it was Sherri’s first visit to any Disney park. Because she is happily married with two children, it would be impossible for the two of us to be able to spend a day at Disneyland any other time than this visit … it was just meant to be. Since it was her first time, I wanted to make sure that we did all of the best and important stuff in the 7 hours of playtime that we had. Naturally we had Dole Whip and naturally we rode rides like The Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, California Screamin’, The Tower of Terror and still had time to ride a bunch of other rides as well. PLUS, I got to introduce her to Mickey Mouse, himself! I always have a great time at Disneyland but getting to spend a day with my oldest friend was truly a special experience for me. She and I have so many stories, she knows all of my embarrassing secrets, we have a lot of shared memories. I can only hope that her day at Disneyland was as special for her as it was for me. The time flew by but we really did a great job of maximizing our time in the parks. The longest line we waited in was for Space Mountain for about 20 minutes. Yeah, we got lucky yesterday. I have many special memories of Disneyland but yesterday’s visit is deffo one of my faves of all time. Sherri has already left for home and should be landing any time now. It was so great to see her on her trip. I’m hoping to visit with her again when I go back home to Detroit for Father’s Day weekend in June.
I don’t have any big plans for today. I’m getting a long overdue haircut and that’s about it. I hope you are having a great Thursday. Happy Weekend eve!
