In a couple of months the prequel sequel film X-Men: Days of Future Past will be released in theaters and as you may know, the movie is jam packed with LOTS of compelling characters all crammed into one movie. Because of the crowded nature of the X-Men films, it’s not easy for one character to really stand apart and shine. It is for that reason that the very popular Wolverine character got his own spin-off movie franchise. Because Jennifer Lawrence‘s portrayal of the mutant Mystique has been so well-received, there is talk that she might get her own movie spin-off franchise … which I would be in FULL support of.
Mystique could get her own solo film in the next “X-Men” installment. Talks to give more depth to Jennifer Lawrence’s character are revealed during Entertainment Weekly’s interview with producers Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg. Kinberg who wrote the upcoming “X-Men: Days of Future Past” said, “I love what Jen Lawrence has done with her, and I feel like because she is in such a crowded ensemble, there’s so much more opportunity if you were to follow her solo.” Donner added, “There was a regime [at the studio] that didn’t see the worth in [spin-offs], and the current people who run Fox understand, embrace it, and we’re going to do right by it. I’d like to do Gambit. I’d like to do Deadpool. We’ll see. There’s a lot of really great characters.” Plan for Mystique spin-off is unveiled as Lawrence is coming close to wrap “The Hunger Games” franchise. “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1? is due November 21 this year, and “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2? is slated for November 20, 2015.
With plans for the Spider-Man movie franchise to spin-off movies for Venom and the Sinister Six not to mention all of those Marvel Comics superhero films (Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy), I have no doubt that the X-Men movie folk want to get in on the action. If Jen is up for it, I bet you any money they will spin-off Mystique in her own movie franchise. Mystique is one of the most interesting X-Men characters, they could make great movies with her as the star. I bet this is going to happen. Mark my words.
