Remember earlier this week we learned that Spice Girls are REPORTEDLY considering a world tour with Backstreet Boys? Well, according to Sporty Spice Melanie Chisholm, if the Spices do decide to hit the road they will do so without Victoria Beckham, and she is totally OK with that. At this point, there is nothing official about the Spice Girls going on tour with BSB (or at all) but now that we know that Vicki B. has given her ex-bandmates permission to tour without her, it seems VERY POSSIBLE that a Spice Girls tour may actually come to pass … WHICH IS VERY EXCITING NEWS, INDEED.
VICTORIA BECKHAM has given her blessing for the Spice Girls to reform as a four-piece. Melanie Chisholm (Mel C to the rest of the world) said that the designer didn’t expect the band to come to an end without her, as many would perhaps have thought. “We’ve talked about it,” she told the Daily Mail. “Victoria doesn’t want to, which we completely understand. We are so proud of her and her incredible foray into fashion; it’s incredible what she’s achieved as a designer. The four of us could consider it maybe. We have Victoria’s blessing to do that.” Beckham joined the band for a reunion tour in 2007 and 2008 but later said that she very quickly became aware during the performances that her girlband days were over. “It should have been the best moment of my life, but I just wanted to be elsewhere,” she told French Vogue last year. “It wasn’t a lack of respect for the girls or the audience, but the passion just wasn’t there. By contrast, in my new career, the passion grows every year. I still want more.”
Honestly, VB could really ruin the Spice Girls‘ chances of a successful tour if she made a bit stink about them touring without her but nope, she is the being the bigger Spice. It’s very obvious that she’s been over the Spices for a long time now. It was really very cool of her to agree to perform as a Spice Girl for one last time during the closing ceremonies of the 2012 London Summer Olympic Games. But that was it, I knew that was it. I’m glad she has given her blessing because even without her Poshness, I’d still very much like to see the Spice Girls on tour. First come the rumors, then comes the blessing … next comes the tour?
