Last night many members of the principal cast of American Horror Story: Coven convened at the Dolby Theater to discuss the previous season in front of an audience of fans to close out PaleyFest 2014. As you can see in the gallery presented here, many of our fave Coven actors were in attendance at last night’s event … tho the queen herself, Jessica Lange, could not attend due to a family obligation. I was in the audience last night and I had a great time hearing the AHS cast discuss Coven and was able to hear first hand the big news that actor Michael Chiklis has joined the cast of the upcoming season American Horror Story: Freak Show. Last night’s panel discussion was great. Except for the fact that Jessica Lange couldn’t attend, I had no complaints about the night at all. It was great to hear firsthand that Michael Chiklis is joining the cast. He was very excited to talk about the coming season of AHS so the Freak Show should be great. AHS creator Ryan Murphy made it clear that the new season isn’t focused on a circus or a carnival — it’s a bona fide freak show. It was really fun to see the actors playfully joke with one another. Gabourey Sidibe told the best stories about hanging out with cast … she even acted out a scenario where she and Sarah Paulson got into a minor skirmish with a fan in New Orleans after said fan glitter bombed Sarah — who wasn’t having it. Gabby also shared her idea for an AHS: Coven spin-off titled Queenie and the Head (referring to Kathy Bates‘s character after she got beheaded). The premise is that Queenie and the Head move to Seattle together where the Head could work as an online teacher. Brilliant idea, no? Hahaha.
While I had no complaints about the AHS cast last night, the audience members who asked questions turned out to be really annoying. Only a few of them asked questions, the others either publicly begged for work on the show or just asked if they could get hugs/autographs from the castmembers. As a fan, I understand the excitement but there is a time and place for everything. Still, I’m very glad I attended the event last night. I ran into my friend Tony and his friends who were coincidentally seated in my same row. We hung out afterward to round out my Friday night. PaleyFest hosts these kinds of panel discussions every year in LA and NYC and they’re worth attending, especially if you are a big fan of TV.
I have no plans for today. The cable guy is coming so I have to wait for him. Other than that, I’ll be chillin’ on this fine Saturday (tho a movie later may be possible). I hope you are having a great weekend.
